Today I woke up rested. Lucas is sleeping for longer chunks of time at night. In fact, last night I woke up wet with milk from my breasts signaling it was time to feed instead of Lucas' cry. I think now he cries because he is tired. Before he would just go to sleep... now it seems like he wants some help... someone to rock him or sing softly in his ear.
He's sleeping on my shoulder right now, a favorite spot of his.

A few exciting things to mention:
- Bahareh arrived!
- We took a walk for the first time in our stroller
- I bought 900 wipes for $30...
much better than last week's deal of 184 for $13
- Dustin installed our new 95% efficient propane boiler!
- David and I went on our first date while aunty lydia babysat. Luke drank breast milk from a bottle!

Shelby trying out the stroller...
Shelby and Lucas on our first walk. Shelby is a bit jealous.
Handsome face in his Alaskan gear out for a lazy stroll. Eager Shelby.

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon and Lucas and I have been napping together. Actually I am taking a course to become a trained sexual assault nurse examiner, so while he is napping, I am watching a series of lectures online. Lucas is getting bigger almost by the second... at least wider and thicker... he's already almost too big for 0-3 month clothes and moved into 3-6 month size. So I've been trying to use all these adorable outfits that our sweet friends have given us. Today we dressed up for church and had a little photo shoot. A handsome little guy I'd say. It's no wonder my house is a mess- I just can't resist staring at him when he's eating, and pooping and sleeping and exploring this beautiful world with his new untainted senses. My senses are heightened too. It's fun to watch shadows dancing and to notice the way a fuzzy blanket feels on your fingers and cheeks. He's starting to move his head and eyes in the direction of my voice and there is even the faintest hint of a smile- maybe its still coincidence but I'll take it.

David, Lydia and Mircea are up Verstovia. The sun is out and glorious. I'm going to finish making our pulled bbq venison sandwiches for dinner. We'll see how Lucas' tummy likes that.

A Family excursion to Heart Lake

11 pm breast milk pumping

It's 11pm. Lucas is breathing in quick rhythm, thankfully more quickly and sweetly than my archaic breast pump. David got back from his adventure safely and is passed out. I'm glad to have them both. I'm going to attempt to keep a log of the beautiful details of my life... maybe it is the days getting shorter, or maybe it is my passage into motherhood and the slower pace that accompanies it-- whatever it is, I am ready to sit and enjoy the millions of meaningful moments that make up my days with this new little baby of mine. This is my attempt to somehow suspend those moments for my family and friends that want to sit and watch this beautiful life unfold too.
